✈️ Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Testing of the Primoco ONE150 Unmanned Aircraft
In our testing laboratory, we carried out electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) measurements of the Primoco ONE150unmanned aircraft. The objective was to verify the level of electromagnetic compatibility 📡 of individual onboard systems and their combinations under various aircraft operating conditions.
The measurements were performed in accordance with RTCA DO-160, Section 21 – Emissions of Radio Frequency Energy, covering a frequency range up to 2 GHz (extended up to 6 GHz). The tests included both operation with the engine switched off 🛠️ and measurements with the engine running ⚙️.
To enable full-scale testing, it was necessary to modify the measurement chamber 🧰 for operation with an internal combustion engine. We installed:
-
an exhaust system for fuel vapors and exhaust gases 🔥,
-
a cooling air supply for the engine 💨,
-
and additional safety and monitoring systems 🧯.
Thanks to these modifications, we were able to obtain accurate and reliable data even under real aircraft operating conditions. Measurements were carried out in several configurations of avionics systems and electrical wiring (“Wiring A” and “Wiring B”), including scenarios with both active and deactivated subsystems (router, camera, servos, transponder, etc.).
The project was conducted in cooperation with Primoco UAV SE.
